Annual Japanese Knotweed Knockdown!
Japanese knotweed is a highly invasive plant that spreads quickly along stream banks, outcompetes native vegetation, and degrades stream health. This June, LLWS is hosting two separate knotweed removal events on two different dates and locations, and we invite the public to take part in one—or both!
What We’ll Do: Volunteers will cut and remove Japanese knotweed using machetes, helping control its spread and protect our local waterways. This is also a great opportunity to learn more about watershed health and the mission of LLWS.
Who Can Help:
Adults and volunteers ages 16+ (volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
What to Bring:
LLWS will supply machetes. If you have your own, bring it. Please bring sturdy work gloves and work boots. Waders maybe helpful if you have them. Dress for working outdoors. Bring a water bottle. We will have extra water.
