Japanese Knotweed

Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japanica syn. Polygonum cuspidatum) is a herbaceous perennial introduced from East Asia in the 1800s as an ornamental plant and to stabilize stream banks. Knotweed can grow up to eleven feet tall and spreads horizontally through underground rhizomes choking out other plants.
